About SBA

Sankey Badminton Academy was set up by our head coach Scott Sankey, who after competing internationally turned his efforts to coaching. After starting out at All Stars Elite Badminton, Scott also went on to the Webber school of Badminton in Milton Keynes to be assistant head coach of the extremely successful programme there. During this time he coached players of all ages and standards from grassroots players learning the fundamentals, adult club players wanting to brush up on their tactics or skills, players who just wanted to enjoy and learn the game, right through to elite level junior players having over 8 players represent England and winning numerous national championship gold, silver and bronze medals.

After this extremely successful period, Scott relocated from Milton Keynes to take up the job of head junior coach with Oxfordshire Badminton Association. During this 2.5 year period, Scott oversaw the transition to a more performance based training set up, which resulted in a greatly improved medal haul from players over numerous national circuit tournaments.

The Oxfordshire-based Academy was set up in 2021 with the aim of using Scott’s extensive coaching experience and knowledge to provide a place for players of all ages and abilities to improve their game in an engaging, fun and professional atmosphere.
